Lawson Street pedestrian and cycling improvements
We're building a new separated cycleway on Lawson Street, between Eveleigh and Regent streets in Redfern.

The footpath improvements between Little Eveleigh and Abercrombie streets are on hold. They're being reviewed in light of the Transport for NSW proposal for the southern concourse pedestrian bridge at Redfern station.

What we’re doing
We're building a new separated cycleway on Lawson Street, between Eveleigh and Regent streets in Redfern.
The changes will benefit people walking and riding bikes, and improve the appearance and feel of the street.
A new cycleway will be built between Eveleigh and Regent streets along the northern side of Lawson Street over the railway bridge. This will fill a missing cycling link between the Wilson Street cycleway and the George Street (Redfern) cycleway, providing a safer route for people to ride between Newtown, the city and Green Square.
Council endorsed the project after community consultation. The project is funded by the NSW Government.
