Purpose

To thrive, Sydney must support and create an environment that fosters collaboration and learning.

This sponsorship program is designed to encourage the exchange of ideas and knowledge, with a focus on cultural, social and community, economic or environmental outcomes.

Eligibility

Within each area of focus, eligible applications might seek to:

Cultural sector

  • Increase inclusion and participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse artists
  • Activate space and vacant commercial property for cultural space
  • Research and develop a mechanism to source and provide philanthropic funding to cultural operators
  • Research models to scale up cultural infrastructure.

Social and community support

  • Strengthen community cohesion to build the resilience of local communities
  • Enable and increase digital inclusion
  • Increase the affordability and accessibility of healthy and nutritious food
  • Improve the rights of tenants.

Economic outcomes

  • Support business and sector innovation and adaptation
  • Develop digital, innovation and entrepreneurial skills
  • Promote business sector knowledge and networks at scale.

Environmental outcomes

  • Build capacity for residential strata communities
  • Promote alternatives to single use items to address this waste issue at scale
  • Accelerate a green economic recovery
  • Educate and advocate for sustainable regenerative business communities.

Supported programs will be aligned with our economic development strategy, cultural policy and action plan, Open Sydney strategy and action plan and social and environmental policies and plans.

Funding available

The knowledge exchange sponsorship program provides support generally for amounts between $5,000 and $40,000, value-in-kind venue hire and banner pole use.

Funded organisations may be required to provide sponsorship benefits back to our communities in return for funding. These benefits will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis and can be up to the value of the funding provided. 

Key dates

This sponsorship is open all year for applications until funds are exhausted. Applications are made through a 2 stage process:

  1. Lodging of a concept note.
  2. Invitation to make a formal application.

Current round

  • Applications open: 24 August 2020
  • Applications close: 21 September 2020
  • Project timeframe: 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021.
